Ebbsfleet Garden City

Ebbsfleet is transforming into a 21st-century garden city.

Ebbsfleet is transforming into a 21st-century garden city creating 15,000 new homes and up to 30,000 new jobs in North Kent over the next 20 years. Creative Estuary is working with the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to test and support cultural co-location in the area’s growth vision.

Focusing on two key development zones within the garden city plans, we will create proposals for a mix of cultural facilities for communities and businesses over the next 5,10 and 15 years, based on the desires and requirements of local residents, stakeholders and creative industry professionals.

Taking this holistic approach will move development away from silo thinking and single-use assumptions, and establish a city-wide vision for cultural infrastructure, co-located with other civic functions. It will also support Ebbsfleet in developing a strong cultural identity and engage more people in arts and culture as audiences, participants and makers.

The project will be led by a consortium of architects, cultural placemaking professionals, urban and landscape designers, as well as innovative community engagement professionals, working collaboratively with the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation team, stakeholders, residents and other creative professionals.

The results of the cultural co-location project will be used to develop a Cultural Infrastructure Prospectus for Ebbsfleet as well as a best practice guide for national and international cultural developments in the future.
