Make Waves Creative Careers 2024 Programme

What is Make Waves?

Make Waves is for 18–25-year-olds in Medway who want to gain the skills, networks, and confidence to turn their ideas into reality and kickstart their creative career. Through skills-based workshops, go-sees, PAID work experience, mentoring, and a budget to produce a personal project, we support local young people to pursue their dream creative careers.

Make Waves will also provide each young person with:

  • 30 days paid work at £100 a day to give them hands-on experience in the creative industry

  • A £500 budget to plan and organise their own project or event & showcase everything they’ve learnt

  • A £200 personal development budget

  • A travel and access bursary

78% of our cohort from year 1 and 2 of Make Waves secured paid work in the creative industries within 3 months of completing their programme. 100% said that Make Waves helped them learn new skills to launch their creative career.

It’s now easier than ever to refer a young person for this opportunity! You can reply to this email with your referral directly, and I have attached the Further Info Guide and E-Flyer for you to share!

How you can help:

Please share this opportunity with any 18-25 year olds (living, studying, working or volunteering in Medway) you are working with, and more widely amongst your networks.

70% of the last two years applicants were introduced to the programme by a trusted adult outside their family, so your signposting support is vital for ensuring local young people access this opportunity.

  1. Find & share more information on the project, info guides and the application form in this email and here on our website.

  2. Watch & Share this film about the project on YouTube

  3. Share & like our posts on Instagram or Facebook

  4. Put me in touch. I’m very happy to come and speak to any groups you may be working with, or chat with individual young people who may have questions so please don’t hesitate to ask.

The application deadline is 12 midday on Monday 15th April.

We are hosting an online Information Session via Zoom on Tuesday 26th March from 4pm – 5pm. This is for anyone wanting to know more about the programme, a chance to meet the team and ask any questions ahead of applying. You can book a place for the Make Waves Info session here.
