Creative Estuary seeks Advisory Board and new Chair

Creative Estuary is seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our new Advisory Board, including the appointment of a Chair of the Board.

We have recently secured a new investment of £1.15m from Arts Council England to continue our ambitious work for the next 3 years. Our Advisory Board will be essential in supporting us to realise our mission, where our deeply networked programme builds leadership, capacity and space for creative production, accelerating the cultural impact of the Thames Estuary.

Our Values:

We are ambitious
We are curious
We are collaborative
We are resilient

This is an exciting moment, as we embark on the next phase of our journey, and your participation will play a vital role in shaping our future success. Your unique perspective, input and influence will help us chart a course that is aligned with our vision and values, and ensures that we continue to be a significant driver of culture and creative placemaking in the Estuary, with national and international significance and reach.

As an Advisory Board Member, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic guidance and oversight to our organisation, ensuring that we remain aligned with our mission and achieve our goals. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other leaders in our community, deepen your engagement with the creative sector, and make a positive impact on the lives of others.

We are committed to Creative Estuary reflecting and celebrating the diversity across our region. We therefore especially welcome applications from people who are currently under-represented within the creative industries, particularly in leadership roles, as well as people who might be considering a Board level role for the first time.

Our Advisory Board is an un-constituted body, made up of key individuals appointed to support our work. If you are considering your first Board role, this offers a fantastic development opportunity to gain experience in a supportive environment. You don’t need to have done anything like this before, we’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed and passionate, and keen to develop their skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and actively participate in Advisory Board meetings (4 times per year)
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the organisation
  • Work collaboratively to support the project in realising its ambitions
  • Advocate for Creative Estuary through personal networks and seek out opportunities to promote Creative Estuary’s mission and vision
  • Work together to explore the long-term legacy of the project

This is an unremunerated post – out of pocket expenses can be claimed for attendance at meetings and we offer a per diem to freelance / unwaged Advisory Board members.

We are looking for individuals who share our mission to build leadership, capacity and space for creative production, accelerating the cultural impact of the Thames Estuary.

Our Advisory Board members will have a demonstrable commitment to equity, inclusivity and diversity and will have some of the following skills and attributes:

  • a passion for the role of culture and creativity in making great places
  • experience within the creative and cultural industries
  • private sector / development / planning experience
  • strategic experience of the role of culture in placemaking, economic development and regeneration
  • strong communication skills
  • an interest in the Thames Estuary region
  • a willingness to collaborate

How to apply:

If you would like to apply to be a member of our Advisory Board and/or to indicate your interest in the role of Chair of the Advisory Board, please review the requirements as outlined in the pack, which can be downloaded here.

Applications close 17:00 9th June
