‘Boost! – Development Opportunity’ – Evaluation

Applause Rural Touring

Applause offered an exciting CPD/Development opportunity to artists that delivered a residential Lab for Kent/Essex-based Black/Asian and ethnically diverse artists whose creative practice is based in outdoor dance or contemporary circus.

This practical event delved into the nuts and bolts of outdoor rural touring, offered detail and insight about where to look for commissioning and touring opportunities, examples of tried and tested techniques and approaches to producing work for these settings and what to consider when building partnerships with promoters and rural communities. It involved a varied programme of workshops, seminars and creative tasks.

“I liked being able to exchange ideas with the other participants and learn their experiences and ways of making work.”

“I made so many pages of notes that I can refer back to in the future, every speaker was a fountain of knowledge and really giving with their experience and top tips. It was good to learn about the rural touring network and other sources of funding over the UK that I hadn’t heard of.”
