14th October 2022 7pm – 9pm launch event with creative sector

Creative Medway is launching a new website and brand identity to promote, celebrate and support Medway’s vibrant creative and cultural sector to grow and flourish on the local, national and international stage.

By animating our collectively written Creative Medway Cultural Strategy (2020 – 2030) through extensive partnership working, Creative Medway is setting out to enable as many Medway residents as possible to access the benefits of participating in creative and cultural activity.

Fiona Watt, Chair of Creative Medway says ‘We are delighted to have been able to commission PW Creative to work with us to produce such a bold, impactful and dynamic brand and website to take us forward. We are very proud of the creative sector here in Medway and the passion that many within it have for working so closely with our communities. Our branding and website will offer an opportunity to make this work visible and extends an invitation to everyone in Medway to become involved in unlocking our future together.’

Cllr Howard Doe, Deputy Leader of Medway Council and Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “We are incredibly proud of Medway’s fantastic creative and cultural sector and we will continue to support them. We are seeing a growing range of exciting creative events and programmes that residents of all ages can take part in and enjoy. I would encourage residents to find out more about Creative Medway by visiting their brand new website.”

Creative Medway would like to thank Arts Council England, Medway Council, Nucleus Arts and Medway Place Board for supporting our journey so far with funding and resources.

Our launch event has been supported by A+E Lab and Visual Elements. Their very exciting local, national and international work demonstrates the possibilities for what the future of creativity and culture might look like.

Creative Medway

Creative Medway acts as a body that meaningfully represents the creative sector.

Creative Medway is a Cultural Compact, part of a growing network of Compacts set up in cities, towns and rural communities throughout England with funding support from Arts Council England to focus on placed based delivery of creativity and culture.

We support and enable strategic partnerships, working alongside sectors such as Higher Education, Under 18 Education, Public Health and Business to embed creative solutions to specific challenges.

The core purpose of Creative Medway is to support and promote our creative sector here in Medway.

We aim to achieve this in the following ways:

  • Build an informed and empowered community made up of those with an interest in creativity and culture
  • Identify the opportunities (and challenges) facing our creative sector
  • Create agreement around actions to be undertaken
  • Be the catalyst for positive change

Put simply, the big idea is that the people of Medway can come together and take pride in our community, places and spaces and that this will build a better future for us all. We think one way of doing this is to make sure that everyone, no matter how young or old, can have access to creativity and culture. We want to put Medway on the map and have it internationally recognised for its creativity and culture.

Creative Medway is diverse, inclusive, collaborative and engaged, and we celebrate the strength and creativity of all our residents.
