As part of Creative Estuary Co-Commissions, Applause has commissioned two artists to create new outdoor shows that will tour alongside 10 other companies as part of their 2023 Summer Season.

Applause is an ACE (Arts Council England) funded National Portfolio Organisation based in Kent that has developed a highly successful outdoor touring scheme for rural locations and semi-urban communities. Applause supports artists to create and tour small scale shows across their network of volunteer hosts and festival promoters in Kent, East and West Sussex, Essex and the wider region.

The artists being commissioned are Sonia Sabri Company, a dynamic company which has established an international reputation for presenting Kathak dance in a contemporary context. Plus, Casson and Friends, a UK based record-breaking Dance Theatre Company, creating unique performances that are accessible, interactive, and joyful.

The newly commissioned artists will both benefit from Applause’s established extensive touring network as well as new participants in South Essex and North Kent.
