Start Thurrock invites submissions for three Creative Research and Development commissions that will enable creative practitioners and/or cultural organisations, from any discipline, to work with Thurrock communities to develop bold, impactful place-based creative concepts. This opportunity is open to creatives who share Start Thurrock’s values of enabling residents to step forward and shape creative activity that takes place in their community.

Start Thurrock is a Creative People and Places programme funded by Arts Council England,
providing creative opportunities for Thurrock residents. We are a creative community organisation that engages Thurrock residents to take the lead in what they want to create, see or experience in their place; selecting or making ambitious, inclusive and relevant cultural activity and experiences.
